Meta Trader Charts: Charts Setup

The chart settings can be configured by using the context menu, by hot keys, and by commands on the Charts bar.

The following functions are available on the chart context menu (accessed by clicking the right mouse button in the chart window):

• Trading  

  Displays the sub-menu where you can open a new order, buy stop or sell limit.

• Expert Advisor

  Displays the sub-menu where you can change the settings (Properties…), delete (Remove) or test the history (Strategy Tester) of the expert attached:

• Delete Indicator

  (active only when the mouse is clicked on the indicator shown under the price chart).

• Periodicity

  Selecting time periods for the chart.

• Template 

  Displays the sub-menu where you can load a previously saved chart template (Load Template) or save the current chart settings as a Template (Save Template).

• Refresh

  Displays the sub-menu where you can refresh the chart.

• Auto Arrange

  Arrange indicators in the chart.

• Grid

  Show/hide the grid in the chart.

• Volumes

  Show/hide the chart volumes.

• Zoom In

  Enlarge the chart.

• Zoom Out

  Miniaturize the chart.

• Save as Picture

  Save the chart to disk in the selected format (*.CSV,*.PRN,*.HTM).

• Print Preview

  Preview before printing.

• Print

  Print the chart.

• Properties...

  Displays various windows depending on the position at which the mouse is clicked:

  You can choose between three standard color schemes in this window by selecting the Color Scheme value, or you can set a combination of chart colors according to your taste:

  • Background - the background color
  • Foreground - the color of the time and price scales
  • Volume - the color of the volume chart
  • Grid - the grid color
  • Graph - price charts color.

  When clicking in the chart in a field with indicator enabled, a Window is displayed allowing the indicator to be configured.

• Chart Window Hot Keys
  • Cursor arrows Left and Right - scroll the chart to the left or to the right
  • Home and End keys allow moving to the beginning and to the end of the chart
  • + and - keys enlarge or miniaturize the chart
  • Alt+1 - show the chart as Bars
  • Alt+2 - show the chart as Candlesticks
  • Alt+3 - show the chart as Lines
  • Ctrl+G - grid on/off
  • Ctrl+L - volume on/off
  • Ctrl+A - auto arrangement of indicators
  • Ctrl+I - open the window of indicators
  • Ctrl+S - save the chart in the selected format (*.HST,*.CSV,*.PRN,*.HTM)
  • Ctrl+P - print chart in black-white colors
  • Delete - delete the most recently object from the chart
  • Backspace - delete most recently added object from the chart
  • F7 - opens the window to allow configuration of the active expert
  • F8 - opens the window to allow configuration of the chart or indicator.
• Using the Mouse
  • move the chart in different directions by clicking the left mouse button and moving it horizontally
  • change the vertical scale of the chart by clicking the left mouse button in the chart price field and
  • moving it vertically
  • change the horizontal scale of the chart by clicking the left mouse button in the chart date field and
  • moving it horizontally
  • open the context menu by clicking the right mouse button on the chart
  • select an object by double clicking the left mouse button on it (trend, line, symbol, fibonacci)
  • edit the selected object by clicking the left mouse button on the object and then moving it
  • Ctrl + click the left mouse button on the selected trend and move it to allow creation of a parallel

  • open the object configuration window by clicking the right mouse button on the selected object
• Charts Bar

  The Charts bar consists of a floating window which can be attached to the left, right or bottom margin of the main application window.
